"Exit" website traffic stinks. Unless..."
By Jim Daniels - Helping you work at

...Unless it generates
website traffic WITHOUT you paying
for it, AND you know exactly WHERE to send the traffic!
Today I'd like to show you one of the few "exit traffic
strategies" that can be effective.
But first, for those of you who are not familiar with "exit
traffic", here's a quick explanation...
Exit traffic is website traffic that is generated when
someone exits a site. When leaving a web page that contains
special "exit pop" code, a new browser is spawned and a new
site is placed either directly in front of, or behind your current
open browser. In a nutshell, you exit one web page and sort
of get forced into viewing another site.
And that's why I really do not like the strategy in almost
all cases. Forcing someone to view a web site is in my
opinion, neither beneficial to the webmaster that sends the
traffic nor the webmaster who receives it. In most cases it
leaves a bad thought about the site you visited. And the new
site is usually deserted before it even has a chance to fully
load.
But as I mentioned, there are always exceptions, and today
I'd like to share an exit strategy that CAN be effective. It
involves a new system released by that pesky Mark Joyner,
who's always coming up with a new twist on current
technology. You may remember his recent startblaze system
which has been a great success.
His newest system is called ExitBlaze.
http://www.bizweb2000.com/exitblaze
ExitBlaze allows webmasters to take advantage of exit
traffic from multiple, related sites. As you'll soon see,
this system is quite unique AND powerful, if used properly.
Here's how it works...
-
The system spits out some simple cut and paste code which
you put on at least one page at your site. (More on exactly
WHERE you should put that in a minute.)
-
When someone leaves that page of your site, a pop-under
page appears under their main browser window.
-
Each time this pop-under page appears, you earn traffic.
So basically, you can earn traffic for people leaving your
site.
And while "pop-unders" are not new in themselves, Mark's
delivery method IS quite new. Mark has set the system up as
a viral marketing strategy. A percentage of your exit
traffic brings more people into the exitblaze system and you
earn traffic when people leave their sites as well. This
goes on four levels deep. It's sort of like MLM but without
the promise of money.
If it sounds a bit confusing, fear not. I was under that
impression as well, but after trying it things were made
clear in a jiffy. Quite simply, ExitBlaze promises website
traffic and it delivers on that promise nicely. The first
day I added it to just ONE of my web pages it paid me back
with 100+ visitors to MY site.
But perhaps the best feature is that when you join (which is
100% free, at least for now) you specify which category your
site is in, so your exit traffic will be targeted.
So is this an endorsement for ExitBlaze? Well, yes and no.
Let me explain...
There are lots of possibilities on how to use ExitBlaze to
your advantage. But there are also many ways you can misuse
it. For sure, ExitBlaze will not be for everyone. If you
simply despise the idea of your visitors getting forced to
view another site when they exit yours, then this is not for
you. And that's the way I felt until this week.
But upon closer examination of ExitBlaze I was able to come
up with a solution to what bothered me most - the annoyance
factor. (Both for my site visitors who get a pop-under AND
folks who get my web page popped from another site!)
First my site... Since ExitBlaze gives webmasters control over
where the "exit pop" feature is placed on their site, I was able
to try the system in a limited capacity.
For me, finding a place to try this strategy was easy. The ideal
location for me to try it was at one of my busiest pages, my
Marketing Infoboard at: www.bizweb2000.com/wwwboard
Why there? Because my Infoboard is NOT a place where I
directly sell my products and services. So an exit pop there
would not interrupt a selling process. That's a big factor
to consider. The last thing you want to do is interrupt
someone who is considering a purchase at your site.
Yet I attribute most of my early success with ExitBlaze not to
where I placed it on my site, but to one aspect I considered
even more carefully -- that is exactly WHERE my earned traffic
other sites would land.
Where to send your earned traffic...
Although you can send traffic you earn directly to your home
page, I've discovered a more effective place to send it.
Since many surfers are a bit less than thrilled when
additional sites pop into their view, their attention span
is shortened significantly when it happens. So hitting them
with full site may not be your best strategy. Instead I
decided to simply give them a free gift. I do that with this
page... http://www.bizweb2000.com/popexit.htm - which is
entered into exitblaze as my target page. So all hits I earn
through the system go to that page. This grows my opt-in
list and introduces new prospects to my way of helping them
get started in online business - a free book.
As someone who really does not like the exit traffic idea in
general, I must admit that this quick little subscriber
generation system I now have in place has surprised me.
ExitBlaze has been more powerful than I imagined. It
took all of thirty minutes to set up and will grow my opt-in
list significantly as more webmasters discover the potential
of ExitBlaze at their own sites. That's the beauty of a viral
marketing concept such as this.
So is it for you? That's your call. But one thing is for
sure, it CAN be effective if you use your imagination and
set it up to your own needs and wishes. Why not give it a
try? After all, it's free...
